Frequently asked questions
What are lash extension?
Eyelash extensions are synthetic lashes that are adhered to your individual natural eyelashes.
Contrary to false or strip lashes, extensions are attached one by one to individual eyelashes. Extensions enhance your natural beauty by adding length and fullness to your existing lashes. For those looking to enhace natrual beauty while providing you minimal effort in the morning- say adios to mascara!
Are they safe?
Absolutely, When properly applied eyelash extensions are a safe and convenient alternative to mascara.
NOTE: Ingredients are paramount! I use formadyhyde free ingredients; however, there are a handful of people who develope an allergy to cyanoacrylate (the main ingredient found in cosmetic adhesive) if you have ever had an adverse reaction to adhesive please be sure to tell your lash technician before booking.
How long do they last?
This is dependent on a few variables.
1) Proper application! Research qualified lash technicians, in most states to perform lash extensions a Esthetician license is required. Also check portfolio work of your artist before booking.
2) Aftercare! Clean your lashes, avoid sleeping on your face/side, avoid extended sweat/water exposure. No not use any oil on or around your eyes. When properly cared for your lash extensions will last your full eyelash shed cycle-- meaning they should remain intact until your natural eyelashes fall out as they would normally.
3) Growth cycle! If your hair tends to grow fast you will more than likely be visiting your lash artist every two weeks for fills-- If you have slower growing hair this could be extended to three weeks between fills.
In short, estimated timing varies because of genetics and lifestyle.
Do eyelash extensions damage your natrual eyelashes?
The biggest myth is that lash extensions ruin your own lashes. If applied properly, they are safe and do not ruin the health of your natural lashes. Be sure not to rub your eyes or tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes.
You may expect almost the same eyelash appearance after extension removal. If they seem to be shorter and thinner, it could be that you are used to how your extensions look over time. Applying added weight and covering your natural lash can cause them to not grow in as long. If application is correct, upon perfessional removal your lashes with be back to their normal length within 3-4 weeks. If the extensions were not chosen and applied correctly, your lashes might become significantly shorter, thinner and more scattered.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Minimize caffeine prior to your appointment.
Come to your appointment with clean eyes. This ensures that your artist can focus on adding lashes rather than removing makeup.
Use the restroom.
Wear warm socks.
How long will my appointment take?
This will depend on the type of appointment you chose.
Please refer to our
Pricelist and Appointment Menu to learn more about appointment lengths.
What happens during a full set appointment?
You will discuss your desired look and what you hope to achieve with the lash technician. They will examine your lashes and add their professional opinion on what is safe for your natural lashes as well as what will provide optimal longevity.
You will lay down on your back with your head resting on a memory foam pillow- the lash artist will then cover your lower lashes for protection, then begin the process of individually adhering extensions to your natural lashes. This procedure is painless and for some very relaxing. Naps are welcomed and encouraged. To conclude, your Lash Artist will remove the protective covering from your lashes and give you a first look at your new lashes. You won't be disappointed.
I had my extensions applied somewhere else. Can I come to BlinkBrow for a fill?
Of Course! Since lash services and techniques vary from salon to salon, BlinkBrow
require clients with lashes from an outside salon to book a "New Client Touchup" This service provides enough time to evaluate your existing extensions and determine the best results for you. To preserve the health of your natural lashes we may recommend a removal and application of a fresh full set. Please feel free to give us a call if you have any questions.
How do I care for my eyelash extensions?
- Clean your lashes with a mild (oil-free) foaming cleanser. Cleaning them ensures there is no buildup and/or bacteria that can effect the health of your natural lashes and eyes.
-Resist touching your lashes with your fingers. Use a spoolie brush.
-Bellyup! Lash extensions can be damaged when you sleep face-down. Try sleeping on your back.
-Be mindful of excessive sweat. Sweat often carries oils and toxins. If you're an active person, no worries! Just be sure to rinse your lashes and to keep them clean and dry.
-Avoid Oil-based and Waterproof
-Avoid using eyelash curlers
-For optimal results schedule a fill every 2-3 weeks
Are they expensive?
They aren’t cheap... and you're worth it! It’s an intricate procedure - literally attaching each synthetic lash "hair" to your natural eyelashes one by one.
This procedure caters to those who value their time.
10 mins a day for makeup equals roughly 4 hrs 40 mins per month! Substituting lash extensions cuts this time in half ( a fill every two weeks is 2 hrs every month) and offers a more esthetically pleasing result. Say goodbye to clumpy mascara!

Could I go blind?
Unlikely. You may have an allergic reaction to the adhesive, but as long as you’re not having them done at a storage unit, turned day spa, your vision will likely survive.
